Banjo stuff

People often ask about my favorite gauges for banjo strings.
I use GHS strings:
1st - 10, 2nd - 11, 3rd - 13, 4th - 22, 5th - 10

I also like to keep one of my banjos tuned down to open "E" or "F"
If you haven't tried it before it's a great sound.

If you don't see the gauges you would like to try give them a call and they will
put a custom set together for you www.ghsstrings.com

People also ask what are the best banjos to start... For those of you starting to play banjo these are the models I recommend. It pays to spend a little more and avoid the cheap imports. Not saying this because I endorse Deering Banjos... they just happen to be the best for what I'm discussing here.

Beginner banjo:
Deering Goodtime
Deering Goodtime 2 (with resonator)

Pro banjo best value for your money:
Deering Eagle II and Sierra
